Lane closures on Highway 406 may slow Fort Erie commuters

Fort Erie commuters will face overnight lane restrictions on Highway 406 this week.

Road crews will close one alternating lane in both directions between Beaverdams Road and Sir Isaac Brock Way.

The work was scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. on Sunday and run through the week. Lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. each morning. Both northbound and southbound traffic will be affected by the maintenance, which is expected to continue until early Friday.

According to Ontario 511, no other highway or ramp closures are scheduled in Niagara this week.

Drivers travelling between Thorold and Fort Erie are advised to expect delays at night, plan alternate routes if necessary and watch for workers and equipment.
