About & FAQ

Established in 2024, Fort Erie Radio is an internet radio station broadcasting live from Queen Street in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada. We play the biggest rock hits from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s, in addition to broadcasting local news and talk segments.

Our radio station feed can be streamed through this website, compatible Alexa devices, or by downloading our free iOS and Android apps.

Do you have a terrestrial broadcast?

No. Fort Erie Radio is exclusively an internet radio station, meaning that we do not broadcast on AM or FM radio. No tuning a finnicky dial, no static or spotty signals, and no geographic limit to our broadcast range.

Does streaming Fort Erie Radio use a lot of data?

Comparatively speaking? No, not really. Fort Erie Radio is streamed at 192 Kbps, which works out to roughly 86 MB per hour. While this is not an insignificant amount of data, it is less than 10 per cent of what you would consume if streaming Netflix over that same hour. If you intend to listen to Fort Erie Radio for long periods of time, it’s probably best to be on Wi-Fi.

Are you licensed by SOCAN and Re:Sound?

Yes, we only play music legally. We ensure that artists, composers, and the like are fairly compensated by paying all applicable tariffs and fees to the applicable licensing bodies, such as the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN).

Are you regulated by the CRTC?

In short, no. Internet radio stations are not required to register with the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC).

Are you required to play a certain amount of Canadian music?

While we do love to play Canadian rock, we are under no legal obligation to meet the Canadian content guidelines set out by the CRTC.

Are you registered with the CBSC?

Although we make every effort to be responsible broadcasters, we are not associated with the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council (CBSC). If you have a concern about something you heard on our station, please contact us directly at hello@FortErieRadio.ca.
