Catherine Street to close Tuesday for Niagara Region crane work
November 6, 2026 at 3:10 AM
A section of Catherine Street in Fort Erie will be closed for up to 12 hours Tuesday while Niagara Region carries out work requiring a crane.
According to the Town of Fort Erie, Catherine Street will be closed between Waterloo Street and Niagara Boulevard from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on November 10.
The closure may continue Wednesday if the work is not completed Tuesday.

The town did not provide further details about the work requiring the crane.
The closure is in the same area as an ongoing Niagara Region project involving the Catherine Street sewage pumping station, though the town has not said the two are connected.

Niagara Region says the existing pumping station at 8 Catherine St., built in 1981, has reached the end of its service life. A replacement is planned on an adjacent property at 263 Niagara Boulevard.
Fort Erie Radio has previously reported extensive archaeological work has been underway at the site since 2024.
According to Niagara Region, initial archaeological findings warranted a more detailed investigation, which is continuing this year in collaboration with Indigenous groups.
Drivers should plan to avoid the Catherine Street closure Tuesday while the work is underway.
