26-year-old Fort Erie man identified as second suspect in Niagara Falls robbery

A Fort Erie man is facing a number of charges after a robbery and kidnapping incident in Niagara Falls.

The 26-year-old suspect was charged by Niagara Regional Police with robbery with a firearm, kidnapping with a firearm, dangerous operation, failure to comply with a release order and breach of probation.

He was taken into custody on July 17 with a future court date.

The charges stem from an incident that happened around 2:15 to 2:30 a.m on June 27 when an altercation occurred between one male adult victim and two male suspects outside of a bar located at 5899 Main Street in Niagara Falls.

One of the suspects is alleged to have pulled out a pistol and brandished it, demanding the victim get back into the vehicle. When the victim refused, both suspects tried to push him into the vehicle while assaulting him at the same time.

The victim was able to escape but not before being robbed of his jewellery.

According to police, the victim sustained “non-life threatening injuries.”

The other suspect involved in the incident, who is 22 years old, was scheduled to have a bail hearing on July 11. Police charged him with four counts relating to the incident: robbery with a firearm, kidnapping, possession of stolen items under $5,000, and possessing of cocaine for trafficking.

During the execution of a search warrant in the area of Culp Street and Drummond Road in Niagara Falls, police found $1,060 in cash and 95.8 grams of cocaine, with an estimated street value $9,600.

None of these allegations have been proven in court.
