Motorcycle rider faces charges after month-long search

Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) has concluded an investigation into a driver dangerously operating a motorcycle through parts of Crystal Beach.
On April 7, 2024, police responded to reports of a motorcycle driving dangerously around 10 p.m. near Derby Road and Conway Place.
Shortly after, at 10:21 pm, an officer spotted a matching motorcycle speeding and doing wheelies on Ridgeway Road and Roxborough Road.
The driver then allegedly accelerated past police on Roxborough, trying to provoke a chase.
Investigating officers were able to identify a suspect, a 20-year-old local man.
On May 3, 2024, officers met with the suspect and seized a repainted black and grey Yamaha R6.
According to a recent news release issued by NRPS, the man was charged with several provincial offences under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA):
- Drive vehicle while performing a stunt (HTA s. 172(1))
- Owner operate motor vehicle on highway – no insurance (CAIA s. 2(1)(A))
- Use plate not authorized for vehicle (HTA s. 12(1)(D))
- Drive motor vehicle improper licence (HTA s. 32(1))
Police also suspended the suspect’s licence for 30 days and impounded the motorcycle for 14 days.

It’s good to see the charges made public. Things have been getting out of hand lately. I’ve had run ins on the hiway with a motorcycle which I often see in Crescent Park. An attitude adjustment might just save someone’s life.
I’m mostly just surprised they ever caught the guy.
