Switzer-Carty employee charged in child exploitation probe

A Port Colborne woman employed by Fort Erie-based Switzer-Carty Transportation has been charged in connection with an investigation into the online sexual exploitation of children, according to Niagara Regional Police.

In a news release issued Wednesday, police said the investigation began in October 2025 when members of the Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit and Technological Crimes Unit launched a joint probe into the creation and distribution of child sexual abuse material.

Investigators say the accused, who worked as a bus monitor on a Port Colborne high school route, was identified through the course of the investigation.

On November 12, police arrested a 33-year-old woman from Port Colborne and charged her with making sexually explicit material available to a person under 18, a Criminal Code offence.

According to CHCH News, Weaver was employed by Switzer-Carty Transportation, which operates school bus services across Niagara from its Fort Erie base.

In their statement, Niagara police warned that online platforms used to share and store child sexual abuse material remain “prevalent” and urged parents and guardians to take steps to keep children safe online.

Anyone with information related to the case is asked to contact Niagara police at (905) 688-4111, option 3, extension 1009172, or to submit a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers of Niagara at (800) 222-8477.
