QEW a construction hotspot this week in Niagara

People commuting to and from Fort Erie on the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) this week can expect some likely delays due to construction.

According to Ontario 511, the province’s traffic information website, there are several spots along the highway in Niagara where work is taking place.

There will be work between Highway 406 and Seventh Avenue, starting Wednesday on both sides of the highway.

One long construction zone will be between Highway 420 in Niagara Falls and Bowen Road in Stevensville, with alternating lanes in both directions.

According to Ontario 511, this work starts Tuesday.

Ongoing work between Victoria Avenue in Lincoln and Niagara Street in St. Catharines will continue both Fort Erie- and Toronto-bound, as well as between Glendale Avenue in Niagara-on-the-Lake and Welland Avenue in St. Catharines.

Martindale Road and Seventh Street in St. Catharines will continue to be a construction zone, as well as between Baker Road in Niagara Falls and Gilmore Road in Fort Erie.

East Main Street in Welland will see its fair share of work, with projects scheduled near the Welland Tunnel, Highway 140 and Wellington Street.

Highway 58A/Humberstone Road will have alternating lane closures southbound and northbound due to work taking place at between Main Street/Highway 3 in Port Colborne.

Work continues on Highway 58 northbound at Thorold Stone Road/Davis Road and Pine Street in Thorold.
