One person was treated for burns during a fire in a detached garage on Sunday afternoon.
At about 2 p.m., local firefighters were called to an address on Henrietta Street, two properties west of Central Avenue, to find an involved structure fire on the property.
Smoke bellowed through the neighbourhood into the parking lot of nearby St. Michael’s Catholic Church around 2:30 p.m.
“As of right now,” there was no damage estimate or cause that could be provided at about 7 p.m. Sunday, said Fort Erie Fire Department training officer Roger Haist, who also said he did not have information on whether the injuries sustained by the individual who was burned were minor or severe.
He said the victim was sent to hospital for treatment.

Other occupants of the home were uninjured and two dogs were also taken to safety, said Haist.
The home on the property was not unaffected.

“There was some minor exterior damage to the home,” said Haist.
The fire is not considered suspicious.
Firefighters from stations two and three responded and were on scene for more than four hours, clearing at about 6:15 p.m.
