Niagara highways another hotbed of construction this week

The QEW will be another hotbed of construction this week for Fort Erie motorists.

There will be construction Toronto bound between Mountain Road in Niagara Falls and Niagara Street in St. Catharines, according to Ontario 511, the province’s traffic information website.

Between Victoria Avenue in Lincoln and Christie Street/Lakeview Avenue in Grimsby, work will continue to take place headed toward Toronto.

Recurring construction is scheduled between Gilmore Road in Fort Erie and Baker Road in Niagara Falls, Toronto bound.

There will continue to be two alternating Toronto-bound lanes on the Garden City Skyway in St. Catharines.

The Fort Erie-bound off-ramp at Highway 420 will be down to one lane this week, according to Ontario 511.

Work is also scheduled to resume between the Peace Bridge and Victoria Avenue in Lincoln headed toward Toronto.

Between the QEW and East Main Street in Welland, there will be alternating lane closures headed both ways on Highway 406.

On Highway 58, the Thorold Tunnel will remain closed until July 12.

There will be a “special event” on Highway 58 southbound between the Thorold Tunnel and Pine Street from Monday until July 23, says Ontario 511.

Work will continue northbound between Thorold Stone Road/Davis Road and Pine Street, according to information on Ontario 511.

Between Stanley Avenue in Niagara-on-the-Lake and the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge, construction will cause lane closures.

Work is also taking place between the QEW and Stanley Avenue in Niagara-on-the-Lake. All lanes will be closed eastbound this week.
