Meteors prepare for Panthers after shutout triumph over Falcons

With 470 fans in attendance at the Leisureplex last night, the Fort Erie Meteors triumphed 2-0 against the St. Catharines Falcons.

This was due in no small part to outstanding goaltending by Charlie Burns, who made 33 saves for the shutout. Hunter Coley and Sam Tonelli each scored one against the Falcons.

“It obviously felt really good,” Burns told BP Sports Niagara in response to the win. “We knew we had to get the job done.”

With just six games left in the regular season, including one more meeting with the Falcons, Fort Erie narrowly sits in third place in the Golden Horseshoe Conference, a mere three points behind the first-place Caledonia Corvairs.

The Meteors take on the Pelham Panthers at Accipiter Arena this afternoon, then face the Port Colborne Sailors at the Vale Centre on Family Day.
