Meteors lead first-round series 2-1 after loss on Saturday

The Fort Erie Meteors’ social media accounts said the team was looking to put a “stranglehold” on the Cambridge Redhawks by taking a commanding 3-0 lead in their playoff series.

But that didn’t happen and Cambridge cut the deficit in half and now trails 2-1 in the best-of-seven contest, the eastern conference quarterfinals.

Fort Erie won the first two games but Cambridge came out on top with a 4-1 win Saturday night at the Leisureplex.

Game four is scheduled for Tuesday in Cambridge and game five is set for Thursday night at the Leisureplex. Puck drop is at 7 p.m for both matchups.

Game six, if necessary, will be played Saturday in Cambridge.

Scoring the Meteors’ lone goal in Saturday’s loss was Hunter Coley, assisted by Dylan Coers and Jack Ryan.
