Meteors begin final series against St. Catharines on Friday

The schedule is set for the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League eastern conference finals, which will see the Fort Erie Meteors face off against the St. Catharines Falcons.
The Meteors will look to win back-to-back championships in what used to be called the golden horseshoe finals but was renamed this season.

Game one will be on Friday in St. Catharines and game two will be played on home ice at the Leisureplex at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
The third game will be April 22 on the road and game four is scheduled for the following night in Fort Erie.
On the Meteors’ social media, a breakdown of how both teams matched up in 2024-25 has been posted.
The regular season series worked in Fort Erie’s favour as they won four of five games against St. Catharines.
Both teams recorded a total of 72 points in the regular season.
St. Catharines is ahead in the goals forward category with 202, which is more than the 187 total goals the Meteors scored all year.
But St. Catharines allowed 137 goals and the Meteors were scored on only 112 times in the regular season.
St. Catharines’ penalty kill had a 84.8 per cent success rate, while Fort Erie killed off 80.4 per cent of the times they were shorthanded.
St Catharines scored on 22.6 per cent of their power plays, while Fort Erie found the back of the net on 20.4 per cent of their power plays.
