High-flying victory: FEIA Red Falcons shine in blackout night showdown

Last night at 7 p.m., Fort Erie International Academy (FEIA) held their second ever blackout night.

The FEIA Red Falcons men’s team took on the Lincoln Prep (LP) Huskies at home and made it a movie. This was one of the highest scoring games all season as FEIA Red beat LP 130-73.

Several players contributed to this massive win. Christopher Kumu put on a dunk show and made his own highlight reel, scoring 22 points in the first half. Marial Akuentok also had 19 points which, combined with Kumu, netted 41 of FEIA Red’s 74 points at halftime. Akuentok finished the game with 21 points before leaving with an apparent ankle injury.

FEIA Red had four players score 20 points or more, including recent University at Buffalo commit Brayden Jackson. Jackson is a 6’8″ guard who decided to take his talents across the border earlier this year.

University of Virginia commit Ishan Sharma had 24 points with five threes made. Sharma is considered one of the best three-point shooters in the country, racking up 27 threes so far this season and averaging 19 points per game in the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA).

The FEIA Red Falcons are off to Las Vegas and Arizona this afternoon for the Grind Session, an international prep circuit for teams to compete in hopes of winning a championship. Sharma is expected to lead this men’s squad.

The team will be returning on February 12th and will play their seniors’ game the following day against Ridley College.
