Fort Erie woman assaulted at home after highway encounter

Niagara Regional Police have arrested a man following a series of events in Fort Erie and Thorold that began with a highway pursuit and ended in a home invasion and assault.

On January 22nd, an 18-year-old woman was driving on the QEW when she noticed a black sedan following her. Recognizing the driver, she attempted to evade the vehicle. The two later stopped in Thorold, where the victim was slapped during a confrontation.

Later that day, the victim returned home in Fort Erie only to find the same man, along with an unknown second suspect, at her door. The man forced his way into the home and, with the assistance of the other suspect, physically assaulted the victim, threatened her, and smashed her cell phone. They eventually left in the black sedan, allowing the victim to seek help.

Police identified the primary suspect and arrested him in the Town of Lincoln on January 24th. Sadiek Elmi Said, 26, of Lincoln, faces numerous charges, including criminal harassment, assault, forcible entry, and assault with a weapon. He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

Police are still searching for the second suspect and working to develop a description for public release.
