Fort Erie Radio to broadcast all Meteors home games this season

Fort Erie Radio will broadcast all 25 regular-season home games of the Fort Erie Meteors Jr. B hockey club for a second straight year.
Alec Murray will call play-by-play from the Fort Erie Leisureplex starting at 7 p.m. tonight, when the Meteors open their 70th season against the Port Colborne Sailors. Jack Sutherland will provide commentary in studio before each game, during intermissions and after the final whistle.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have the Meteors back on the air for another season,” said Fort Erie Radio program director Brent Jones.
Murray approached the Meteors in 2025 with the idea to have Fort Erie Radio broadcast their home games. Meteors head coach and general manager Nik Passero acknowledged the team relies on local support and the broadcasts would be another avenue to keep fans and players’ families engaged.
Last season, the station broadcast every regular-season home game plus home and away games during playoffs. Game 7 of the Meteors’ playoff series against the St. Catharines Falcons ended the team’s franchise-best 39-9-2 season after a 3-2 overtime loss on April 7 in St. Catharines.
The Meteors named forward Hunter Coley of Niagara Falls captain for this season after five 20-year-old players aged out of junior hockey in the spring. Three Fort Erie players, forwards Tate Donald, Gavin Vamplew and Aiden Zimmerman, are on the team’s roster this year.

Starting Monday, Fort Erie Radio hosts Jones and Tyrrell will give away four-packs of Meteors tickets to listeners every Monday morning during a segment called “Meteors Monday.”
Listeners can stream the games through a web browser, the station’s free iOS and Android apps, Google Home, Alexa, TuneIn, Roku and other internet-enabled devices.
