Fort Erie man arrested after fleeing police, drugs and cash seized

With the assistance of patrol officers, Niagara Regional Police attempted a traffic stop in Niagara Falls yesterday, but the driver–a Fort Erie man–did not stop and fled the scene.

In the interest of public safety, a pursuit was not initiated.

Later that day, detectives located the driver in Fort Erie near Forsythe Street and Niagara Boulevard and arrested him with the assistance of the canine unit. A search resulted in the seizure of suspected cocaine and cash believed to be proceeds of crime.

The suspect, 41, has been charged with:

  • Flight from peace officer
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Two counts of fail to comply with release order

The suspect was taken into custody and scheduled for a bail hearing earlier today.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (905) 688-4111.
