Fort Erie commuters should brace for more work on local highways

Fort Erie commuters should expect a left lane to be closed on the QEW headed to Toronto between Central Avenue and Gilmore Road beginning Wednesday.

That’s according to Ontario 511, the province’s traffic information website that lists roadwork taking place across the province.

Other work on the QEW in Niagara includes an engineering investigation between the Garden City Skyway and Welland Avenue in St. Catharines, causing two right lanes to be closed Toronto bound starting on Thursday, says Ontario 511.

Work continues this week between Victoria Avenue in Lincoln and Christie Street/Lakeview Avenue in Grimsby, Toronto bound.

There will be construction causing lane closures between Seventh Street and Martindale Road, Fort Erie bound in St. Catharines.

The Fort Erie-bound on-ramp at Martindale Road remains closed, as it has been for several weeks.

There will also be work taking place headed to Toronto between Lake and Seventh streets in St. Catharines.

The only work on Highway 406 for a second consecutive week will be northbound at the QEW.

Work resumes this week on Highway 58 southbound between the Thorold Tunnel and Pine Street.

On Highway 405, work between the QEW and Stanley Avenue in Niagara-on-the-Lake will continue, as well as between Stanley Avenue and the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge.

Highway 3 will also see some action this week, between Killaly Street and Sherkston Road in Port Colborne, both directions.

The work will also stretch westbound between Sherkston and Point Abino roads.
