Fort Erie commuters face ramp and lane closures this week

Ontario 511 is warning motorists in the Fort Erie area to be ready for a busy week of roadwork. Highway crews will be carrying out overnight lane closures and daytime ramp shutdowns along the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) and Highway 406, and a ramp on Highway 58 will be closed around the clock.
On the QEW, an engineering investigation will reduce Toronto‑bound traffic to one lane in each direction between Mountain Road and Highway 405 from Monday evening to Thursday morning. Ontario 511 says crews will close two alternating lanes starting around 8 p.m. each night and reopen them by 6 a.m. the next morning.
Motorists heading east toward Fort Erie should also expect right‑lane restrictions at Mountain Road all week, with work running overnight from Sunday night until early Friday. A separate investigation will close the Fort Erie‑bound off‑ramp at Highway 405 in Niagara‑on‑the‑Lake on the same schedule.
Drivers in Grimsby will face a full closure of the Toronto‑bound on‑ramp at Casablanca Boulevard overnight on Tuesday. The ramp is scheduled to close at ten p.m. and reopen by five the next morning.
In Fort Erie, the QEW off‑ramp at Bertie Street/Thompson Road will be shut down from early Monday morning through late Friday afternoon while construction crews work on the interchange.
Highway 406 is also undergoing a series of overnight lane reductions. Ontario 511 says one alternating lane will be closed in the southbound lanes between the QEW and Highway 58 in St. Catharines each evening from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. until Friday.
Northbound traffic will be restricted to a single lane between Glendale Avenue and Glendale Avenue and between Decew Road and Sir Isaac Brock Way, with crews working overnight from Sunday through Friday morning.
The southbound off‑ramp to Highway 58 will also operate with alternating traffic from Monday afternoon until early Friday morning.
The northbound off‑ramp to Highway 406 at Thorold will remain closed around the clock. The closure will begin on Sunday and continue until 5 a.m. Friday while crews complete construction work.
Ontario 511 encourages drivers to obey posted speed limits and watch for workers and equipment on the road.
