Bills Backers Fort Erie to host penny raffle and 50/50 at Fort Erie Golf Club

It is no surprise that Fort Erie is home to many members of the Bills Mafia.

One group of fans, Bills Backers Fort Erie, will be hosting a fun event this month featuring lots of prizes and in support of COPE (Community Outreach Program Erie).

Carrie McNeill, president of Bills Backers Fort Erie, told Fort Erie Radio the group will be hosting a penny raffle and 50/50 at Fort Erie Golf Club on Saturday, August 17.

Tickets will be on sale from noon until 5:30 p.m. to win a number of Bills-themed raffle prizes.

Carrie noted that there are many prizes to be won, including a “stay in the Bills suite at Hotel Philco, a huge Bills wall clock donated by Stevensville Pallet Project, a mini helmet signed by O.J. Simpson, and a picture signed by Stefon Diggs.”

The golf and steak dinner previously advertised has already sold out, but McNeill said everyone is welcome to attend the penny raffle. Raffle sheets are $5 each and 50/50 tickets are also $5, and winners do not have to be present.

In addition to the raffle, there will be $6 burgers, hot dogs and sausages available to purchase.

McNeill said she started the group on Facebook more than two years ago as “a fun way to connect with local fans.”

“It has grown to over 1,500 members and is officially recognized by the Buffalo Bills as an active backers group, along with our sponsor, South Coast Cookhouse,” noted McNeill.

“We began raising money for COPE when Damar Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest during a game. Since then, we have done a few GoFundMe campaigns for COPE, held a rally party with raffles, which sponsored Easter baskets and meals for COPE,” she said.

“With such a big group, it’s easy to find fun ways to not only celebrate the Bills but also help our community. That’s what Bills fans do,” she said, adding that everyone is invited to join their Facebook group to stay informed of all their upcoming events.
