Police investigating car theft, vandalism in Thunder Bay area

A flurry of vandalism and theft on the weekend in the Ridgeway-Thunder Bay area is being investigated by Niagara Regional Police (NRP).

In a statement to Fort Erie Radio on Monday, NRP spokesperson Constable Phil Gavin said there are four incidents of vehicles being entered into and stolen from.

Additionally, one car had its window smashed but did not appear subjected to theft, said Gavin.

A car was also stolen, a black 2010 Mazda hatchback.

The incidents are believed to have taken place overnight between April 19 and 20 in the area of Maple Leaf Avenue South and Thunder Bay Road.

An ongoing investigation has determined a suspect and possibly a second suspect was active in the neighbourhood at about 2:26 a.m., said Gavin.

In the ‘Ridgeway Rocks’ community Facebook group, one person posted that a vehicle was spotted “cruising” the neighbourhood between 2 and 3 a.m.

The same person urged others to check their cameras and cars to check for any suspicious activity.

Gavin said anyone with information is asked to contact the investigating officers by calling 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1022300.

Members of the public who wish to provide information anonymously can contact Crime Stoppers of Niagara online or by calling 1-800-222-8477. Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards to persons who contact the program with information that leads to an arrest.
