Hundreds gathered on Jarvis Street on Saturday for an Easter egg scavenger hunt organized by the Bridgeburg BIA.
The hunt included a total of 16 stops, mostly local businesses, starting at Fate Salon.

At each stop, children–many of whom brought their own baskets–were able to collect an assortment of goodies, including chocolate eggs and toys.
Venus Jewellers was even handing out Pokémon trading cards.

Other highlights on Saturday included an appearance from two Fort Erie firefighters and Fluffy the Clown, who was making balloon animals for a lineup of kids with their parents.
The Salvation Army was also set up outside Fate Salon, where volunteers were collecting non-perishable items for their food bank.

At the final stop of the day, families found the Easter Bunny waiting for them at the Manic Maker, as well as an assortment of activities for children to do.
Dana Nadeau, owner of the Manic Maker, said the turnout on Saturday was “fantastic” and that it was “by far” the best attended Easter event in recent years.
Getting people downtown, especially during special events being hosted by the “talented and devoted” BIA is “huge,” she said, recalling just a few years ago there being several boarded up storefronts.
The BIA hosts a number of events throughout the year, such as a summer bash in June and the upcoming second annual Arts, Eats, and Beats event, as well a Halloween party and the Santa Claus Parade.
She thanked representatives from the Fort Erie Fire Department, who brought a truck and their Dalmatian mascot, Sparky the Fire Dog.
“They’re always there and they’re always supportive,” she said.
