Minor hockey team needs packed arena for must-win game Saturday

A local minor hockey team would love to see a packed Leisureplex Saturday afternoon cheering them on in a must-win game.

Credit: Alicia Dimitrov LawrenceThe Fort Erie Jr. Meteors (U11) squad is down by one game in a three-game Niagara District League championship series against the Pelham Panthers, and needs to come out on top in the 12:30 p.m. matchup.
“They’d be pretty amped up,” said coach Colin Bullock, also pointing out the U11 Pelham team was undefeated during the regular season, and so far in the postseason.
The winner of the series will advance to the next round, which is the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) playoffs.
Bullock said his group “has come a long way” by turning their season around at the halfway point, closing it out with an eight-game winning streak.
If Fort Erie wins on Saturday, they will force game three, which would be played Monday in Pelham, said Bullock.
