Fans can bet on big prizes and bigger finishes Tuesday as the Fort Erie Race Track ends its season with two new $30,000 cup races.
The Crimson Maple Cup and the Harvest Moon Cup will headline closing day for the first time at the track, offering a big finish for the jockeys while thanking spectators with prize giveaways between every race and free programs.
The track is also awarding prizes through its loyalty program for fans who attended 30 or more race days this season.
“We’re nothing without our fans and so closing day is really a day to celebrate our most loyal fans, ” marketing manager James Culic told Fort Erie Radio.
The Turfside Dining Room is already fully booked for the day, reflecting the strong turnout the track expects. Attendance on closing day is typically among the highest of the season.
“We were just looking to do something nice for our horsemen,” said Culic. “The horsemen are very excited. Anytime they can get their horse race into another cup race, they’re happy.”
The track will reopen in May for its 129th season, with community events and live racing scheduled throughout the summer.
