Frosty the Christmas Horse returning to The Plaice December 7

A horse, a cow, and plenty of generosity and Christmas spirit walk into a bar.
But there is no punchline, only an annual holiday event that has been supporting Community Outreach Program Erie (COPE) for half a decade.
It started as an ad hoc group who got together at The Plaice about five years ago and decided to do something charitable.

For the last four years, Frosty the Christmas Horse has become a local sensation at the Garrison Road restaurant, and even has a colouring book about him, with the help of local artist Samantha Meli.
Lacey the Cow is another participant of the party, which takes place December 7 this year in the parking lot of The Plaice.
Leading up to the celebration, there are about 20 barrels at local businesses where non-perishable food items can be donated to COPE.

Milk donations are a major component of the program, which adds up to about $15,000 of what has been donated in five years for the cause, said lead organizer Gary Hass.
He said the event is geared to attract younger generations and make them interested in helping others.
“Getting children engaged is the key to keeping charitable organizations going down the road,” said Hass.
He’s grateful for the support so far.
“People are very generous in this community,” said Hass.
The event runs from 1 to 5 p.m.
