Matty Matheson getting more comfortable with late-night TV appearances

Matty Matheson made his first late-night TV appearance in 2018 as a guest on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’ and he admits he was a bit “panicked” and “shook” by the experience.
But he’s become much more comfortable sitting with hosts since then, he told Fort Erie Radio in an interview Thursday, the day after he appeared on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ to promote his new cookbook ‘Soups, Salads, Sandwiches’, which was released earlier this week.
His nerves were high six years ago when chatting with Meyers, but now he’s been on several morning shows, stopped by ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ twice, and was a guest on ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’ in June.
He also appeared on ‘Good Morning America’ on Tuesday, the day his third cook book was released.

It gets easier every time, the celebrity chef, author, restaurant owner, and actor told Fort Erie Radio.
“I can genuinely be present and excited to be there,” he said, adding he’s “comfortable enough to enjoy it” now.
Matheson is also a producer and actor in the critically-acclaimed and multiple-Emmy-winning series ‘The Bear’.
The Colbert appearance was the third late-night show guest spot where he dressed in a suit, which he admits is done on purpose.
It’s a form of him showing he knows how big of a deal it is to be invited on these shows.
As well, his wardrobe is either one end of the spectrum or the other.
“I don’t have nice clothes, so it’s either I wear what I normally wear, or I wear a suit,” he said.
“It looks nice and professional,” said Matheson on Thursday morning while also in the middle of a book-signing tour in the U.S. that continues into the end of November.
With a couple of breaks in between dates, such as one starting this weekend, Matheson plans to return home to Fort Erie to celebrate the birthday of his daughter, Rizzo, who his restaurant Rizzo’s House of Parm in Crystal Beach is named after.
In his new cookbook, there is artwork from photoshoots near the breakwall along Lakeshore Road, as well as one at Robo Mart.
There are about 150 recipes, many of them “quick and easy,” he said.
But that doesn’t mean it isn’t difficult putting it together.
“It takes about a year to do on top of everything else I’m doing,” he said, referring to just deciding which recipes will make the book and how long it takes to write them out.
Matheson is 42 years old and moved to Fort Erie from the Maritimes as a child.
He attended Garrison Road Public School and is a graduate of Lakeshore Catholic High School in Port Colborne.
