Trucks and tents at Crystal Ridge Arena spark ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ filming rumours

The Town of Fort Erie has said little about ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ shooting scenes around Crystal Beach, despite nearly two dozen trucks and trailers and three large tents set up at Crystal Ridge Arena.

Fort Erie Radio asked the town about the production earlier this month, to which the town’s communications manager Kevin Beauchamp said, “Out of respect to them we are keeping all details confidential.”
Last week, the town said on social media that the arena was closed due to repairs, but did not provide any further explanation about the nature and cause of the repairs.
Fort Erie Radio was later told by junior communications advisor Cole Patton that the arena “was temporarily closed due to mechanical failure of one of the plant components,” and that “temporary arrangements have been made to keep the facility operational.”
The arena reopened Tuesday, Patton confirmed.

Asked if the trucks and tents behind the arena are related to filming, Patton did not comment, but previously told Fort Erie Radio to direct any questions related to ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ to Maureen O’Donnell, a publicist for the show.
O’Donnell did not respond to Fort Erie Radio’s inquiries on Tuesday.
