Town launches survey asking residents about healthcare needs

The Town of Fort Erie has 22 questions for residents to gather information around healthcare needs in the community.
A primary care patient experience survey was recently launched on the town’s website, inquiring about the local population’s use of family doctors, clinics, nurse practitioners, and other services.
The municipality is leaving the survey open for an undetermined amount of time “to generate as many responses as possible,” said communications manager Kevin Beauchamp, adding there has been an “incredible response” so far in the community.
“We’re also making a concerted effort to make it available through pharmacies, businesses, town hall, the Leisureplex, and as many other high traffic areas,” he said, noting it is being promoted online as well.
Fort Erie’s urgent care centre, formerly a 24-hour emergency room, is scheduled to close in 2028 when the new hospital in Niagara Falls is completed.
Beauchamp said the survey results will be “used in conversations with Niagara Health and the Ministry of Health to demonstrate which services are expected and where the gaps are occurring.”
Last week, Fort Erie Healthcare SOS, a grassroots group, hosted a summit with a number of invited politicians, medical professionals, community and business leaders, to share ideas and next steps in maintaining services in Fort Erie.
