Conservation Club celebrating change of season with fall fair

When the leaves start to turn it means a few things, and one of them is that it’s time for the Fort Erie Conservation Club’s annual fall fair.

It will be held this year from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on September 28 at the club, located at 2555 Ott Road in Stevensville.

There will be vendors and plenty of free kids’ activities, said club president Connie Charron.

“It started out small but it’s really grown a lot,” said Charron, who has been leading the club for the last 20 years.

“It gives the community something to do,” she added.

In 2023, the Conservation Club celebrated its 40-year anniversary.

The event is a fundraiser for the many initiatives the club undertakes, such as handing out bursaries to post-secondary students, hosting an annual fishing derby, as well as raising walleye that are hatched to be restocked in the Grand River.

Programming is supported by bingo revenues.

The club also offers hall rentals for events such as weddings, celebrations of life, showers, and other special occasions.
