‘I encourage everyone to join us’: Tim Hortons Camp Day returns July 17

What began with 58 restaurants in 1987 has grown to become a foundation that has helped more than 320,00 young people attend camp.

Tim Hortons Camp Day began when 58 restaurant owners in Atlantic Canada donated 24 hours of sales to the Tim Horton Children’s Camp in Tatamagouche, N.S.

The initiative soon spread and by 1991 all Tim Hortons restaurants across the country were participating.

On Camp Day, 100 per cent of the proceeds from every hot or iced coffee sold at Tim Hortons restaurants are donated to Tim Hortons Foundation Camps to “help underserved youth reach their full potential.”

This initiative includes all four Greater Fort Erie locations:

  • 141 Garrison Road
  • 1167 Garrison Road
  • 2780 Stevensville Road
  • 282 Ridgeway Road

Last year, over $12.7 million dollars was raised across Canada and in the United States to send kids to camp.

“Camp Day is the Foundation’s most important fundraiser of the year. Thanks to the dedication of restaurant owners and their guests, we are able to continue empowering youth, and help them build the futures they envision for themselves,” said Caroline Barham, president of Tim Hortons Foundation Camps and Tim Hortons restaurant owner.

“I encourage everyone to join us on July 17 and purchase a hot or iced coffee to help make an impact in the lives of young people who deserve every opportunity to succeed,” said Axel Schwan, president of Tim Hortons.

Customers can also support Camp Day by purchasing a bracelet for $3 or a badge for $2.
