Town seeks input on Bill Connolly Park playground design

Fort Erie residents have until May 18 to choose a new Bill Connolly Park playground design through a town poll that will guide improvements planned for this spring.
The town is seeking public input on six playground options for the park at 2973 Hyman Avenue in the Thunder Bay Road neighbourhood. The chosen design will shape a larger park project that will add a new playground, pathway work and other site changes before an expected summer opening.
The project will replace the existing playground and add shade trees around the play area. The work also calls for a concrete curb around the play area.

A new asphalt pathway will connect the parking lot to the playground and the basketball and tennis courts. Park benches and a bike rack will be moved under the redevelopment plan.
Bill Connolly Park spans about 0.92 hectares and sits in a low-density residential area. The park contains a Class C soccer field, a baseball diamond, a Class B basketball court and tennis and pickleball courts.
The town is also asking residents which playground features they want, including swings, monkey bars, rope climbing structures, balancing features, slides, teeter-totters and equipment that spins or bounces.

The site design work took place in early 2026 and playground construction is scheduled to begin in late spring 2026, according to the town’s Let’s Talk website.
The instillation of playground equipment and reopening of Bill Connolly Park is expected by summer 2026.
