Residents reminded of Fort Erie open air burning rules

Residents are reminded that burning yard waste and leaves in the open air is not permitted.

According to the Fort Erie Fire Department, only fires using clean, dry wood are allowed, provided they do not produce excessive smoke that bothers neighbours.

Before lighting any outdoor fire, residents should contact the Fort Erie Fire Department by calling (905) 871-1600 extension 5600 to inquire about local bylaws and restrictions on open air burning. This includes bonfires, firepits, and outdoor fireplaces.

Open air burning in Fort Erie is only permitted between 4 and 11 p.m.
