Snow removal crews cleared key commercial corridors across Fort Erie over the weekend, completing overnight operations aimed at reopening curbside parking and preparing roads for more winter weather.
According to a notice posted to Facebook from the Town of Fort Erie, crews began work at 3 a.m. Saturday, clearing Jarvis Street from Niagara Boulevard to No. 216 and Niagara Boulevard from Bertie Street to Queen Street.
Operations continued early Sunday morning along Ridge Road, Erie Road, Derby Road and West Main Street, with work timed to align with the town’s overnight winter parking bylaw and minimize disruption to businesses.
The work included temporary road closures and parking restrictions while crews removed snowbanks built up along curbs during recent storms.

Ward 5 Councillor Tom Lewis said Crystal Beach was among the areas that benefited most from the cleanup, particularly for businesses that rely on street parking.
“This was a necessary step to ensure vehicles can park safely and continue to support our local businesses, while also preparing our roads for any additional snow events in the days and weeks ahead this winter,” Lewis said in a separate Facebook post.
Lewis also thanked town infrastructure and operations staff for working outside regular hours, including on Sunday, and acknowledged residents and business owners for their patience during short-term detours and closures.
The town has said snow removal is planned overnight whenever possible to limit inconvenience and keep commercial areas accessible once businesses reopen.
