Fort Erie drivers to face alternating lane closures on Highway 405

Fort Erie commuters will need to navigate a maintenance zone on the Queenston-Lewiston bridge corridor this week. According to Ontario 511’s roadwork schedule for the Niagara region, Highway 405 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction from Monday morning to Friday evening.

Crews will be working on the westbound side between the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge and Stanley Avenue in Niagara‑on‑the‑Lake, forcing traffic to alternate through the work site.

The lane closures start at 7 a.m. Monday with an anticipated end at 6 p.m. Friday.

Just one lane will remain open through the maintenance area, so drivers should prepare for brief stoppages and follow flag‑person instructions.

Delays may affect commuters heading toward Niagara Falls or St. Catharines.

There are no other scheduled lane or ramp closures on the Queen Elizabeth Way or other provincial highways around Fort Erie this week, giving local travellers a mostly clear run.
