QEW ramp closure, lane reduction slow Fort Erie commute

Fort Erie commuters will need to plan for a couple of minor delays this week. Ontario 511 reports that at least two closures will affect local traffic between Monday night and Friday morning.

The most significant local impact will be at the Thorold Stone Road exit in Niagara Falls. The Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) Fort Erie‑bound off‑ramp will be closed every night from Monday at 11 p.m. until Friday at 5 a.m. for ongoing construction. Drivers heading toward the tourist district will need to use alternative exits during the overnight closure.

Closer to home, construction continues to reduce the QEW to a single alternating lane between Ridgemount and Concession roads in Fort Erie. This long‑term project began in August and is scheduled to remain in place until Friday afternoon. Traffic is controlled by flaggers and drivers should be prepared to stop and yield to oncoming vehicles.

Ontario 511 suggests motorists follow detour signage while these closures are in effect. All times and dates are subject to change depending on weather and construction progress.
