Fort Erie drivers face multiple highway closures this week

Drivers travelling between Fort Erie and Niagara Falls should prepare for lane reductions and ramp closures during overnight hours next week. Ontario 511 says roadwork and engineering investigations on provincial highways are scheduled from Monday night through Friday morning.

On the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW), crews will also reduce traffic to two alternating lanes on the Fort Erie‑bound side between Maple Avenue and Bartlett Avenue in Grimsby. The work begins Monday at 9 p.m. and will run nightly until the early hours of Friday.

Another recurring project will close the right lane of the Fort Erie‑bound QEW at Mountain Road in Niagara Falls from the early evening through the morning; that work started this weekend and is set to continue past Friday.

Toronto‑bound drivers will see their own restrictions. An engineering investigation will close two lanes each evening between Mountain Road in Niagara Falls and Highway 405 in Niagara‑on‑the‑Lake. Those closures run from 8 p.m. through the morning starting Monday and finishing early Friday.

Separately, all Toronto‑bound lanes of the QEW will be shut between Thorold Stone Road and Glendale Avenue on Friday night from 8 p.m. until Saturday morning.

Highway 58 in Thorold will be narrowed overnight Tuesday. Maintenance on the northbound and southbound sections between Thorold Stone Road/Davis Road and Collier Road will close alternating lanes from 9 p.m. Tuesday until 7 a.m. Wednesday.

In addition, the northbound Highway 58 off‑ramp to Highway 406 will remain closed overnight throughout the week, with work scheduled to finish by the predawn hours of Friday.

Several overnight projects on Highway 406 will affect traffic in St. Catharines and Thorold.

A right‑lane closure on the northbound Highway 406 between Glendale Avenue and its nearby interchange began on the weekend and will persist through early Friday.

Southbound traffic between the QEW and Highway 58 in St. Catharines will be reduced to a single lane each evening until Saturday morning.

Another right‑lane closure is in place on the northbound Highway 406 between Decew Road and Sir Isaac Brock Way, while the southbound Highway 406 off‑ramp to Highway 58 will close overnight until the end of the week.
