Fort Erie gala to sparkle again in support of local scholarships

Fort Erie residents will have a chance to attend the South Niagara Sparkling Auction Gala on October 24 at the Leisureplex, with proceeds funding scholarships for local high school students.
Tickets go on sale Monday.
The event, organized by the South Niagara Chambers of Commerce (SNCC), runs from 6 to 10 p.m. and raises money for students pursuing postsecondary education. Every South Niagara high school typically receives at least one scholarship funded by the gala.
“We thought it was time to bring it back as a gala with a really powerful message of supporting youth in our community through scholarships,” said Dolores Fabiano, executive director of the SNCC.
Fabiano said the event was once an annual staple but became more casual in recent years. Organizers now hope to restore its formal format and draw larger crowds.
Tickets cost $160, including tax, and come with a raffle entry for a Swarovski jewellery set valued at $800. Proceeds come from ticket sales, business sponsorships and donated auction items.
The evening will include appetizers from Mi Casa 905, a meal catered by Rizzo’s House of Parm and desserts prepared by Greater Fort Erie Secondary School’s Pomegranate Restaurant, which is run by students.
Local high school musicians are also scheduled to perform.
Businesses interested in contributing through sponsorship or auction donations are asked to contact the Greater Fort Erie Chamber of Commerce.
