‘Vendors, cosplay, competitions, and panels’: DSBN FanCon is returning to GFESS

DSBN (District School Board of Niagara) FanCon is returning to Fort Erie this year.

All fans are welcome to join this free community event on April 27, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Greater Fort Erie Secondary School.

“The Frugal Dutchman is once again proud to sponsor this annual community event,” said Frugal Dutchman owner and FanCon organizer Christian Kentie.

He noted that FanCon has something for everyone, including “vendors, cosplay, competitions, and panels.”

Also sponsored by The Embrace Centre, Brodie’s Drug Store, and Maria’s Downtown, the event boasts a wide variety of activities, including:

Panels: Learn from experts at the Cosplay Diversity and How to Thrift Effectively panels.

Contests: Show off creativity in the Cosplay Masquerade and Speed Cosplay: Cardboard Challenge.

Family Fun: The Kid’s Zone offers entertainment for little ones, while everyone can enjoy the Graffiti Art Wall, Guest Card Scavenger Hunt, and Fandom Charades.

Workshops: Take fandom to the next level with Introduction to Boffer Sword Combat or Introduction to Lightsaber Training.

Interactive Displays: Test wits in the FanCon Riddler’s Challenge and Who’s Dungeon Is This Anyway?

Ticketed Tournaments: While most of the event is free, some ticketed tournaments are available for those looking for a competitive edge.
