The Manic Maker sending love to Gilmore Lodge for Valentine’s Day

A local business and its customers are sending love to residents of Gilmore Lodge for Valentine’s Day.

The Manic Maker, a coffee shop and freeze-dried candy store on Jarvis Street, is selling “Grammy and Grampy Grams” for five dollars, a “nice little package” with sweets, a postcard containing a pleasant message, and other items.

They will be delivered to the 160 residents at the new long-term care home that opened late last year.

Close to half of the 160 that will be sent have been sold already, owner Dana Nadeau told Fort Erie Radio this week.

Several crocheted hearts have also been donated to the cause.

The local business aims to appreciate the local elderly population.

“A lot of our regulars are seniors,” said Nadeau, adding that the initiative is a chance to do something nice for those who may no longer have a special someone thinking of them on Valentine’s Day.

“A lot of seniors don’t get attention through the year,” said Nadeau.

“They deserve it,” she added.

The “Grams” are available in-store at 26 Jarvis Street.
