Motorists can expect brief interruptions to their scenic drive along the Niagara Parkway in Fort Erie for another couple of weeks.
As part of its capital improvements program, Niagara Parks is continuing its investment in infrastructure along the south Niagara Parkway with resurfacing work that began late last month.

A recent news release from Niagara Parks outlines the work taking place.
Resurfacing will be done on five kilometres of the roadway, from just south of Cairns Crescent to just north of the Bowen Road intersection.
About one kilometre of the parkway from north of Wintemute Street to the junction on the south side of Catherine Street is also part of the ongoing work plan.
Sections of the parkway from Lakeshore Road, just before the new roundabout at Old Fort Erie to Beatrice Street, are being worked on. Schweigler Road to 3255 Niagara Parkway will also be resurfaced.
Provisional resurfacing will be completed on the field-side lane of Cairns Crescent near Sutherland Drive.
Savanaugh Fraser, Niagara Parks’ technical co-ordinator of projects and maintenance said the project is on track and expected to be completed by September 30.
By the end of this week, it is anticipated that about seven kilometres of parkway paving, including the key areas planned for resurfacing, will be finished.
The total cost of the project is $1.5 million and is part of Niagara Parks’ ongoing commitment to infrastructure improvements.
“This work is essential due to the deteriorating road conditions. Ensuring smooth and safe passage for Niagara Parks’ visitors remains a top priority,” said Fraser.
As a self-funded agency of the Government of Ontario, Niagara Parks invests its earned revenue to fulfil its mandate of promoting and preserving the natural and cultural heritage along the Niagara River Corridor.
This includes investments in improving and repairing infrastructure across its properties, which run from Fort Erie to Niagara-on-the-Lake.
