Record show returns to Sessions with live music later this month

Fort Erie vinyl hunters will get live tunes with their crate digging as Sessions on the River hosts the fourth Fort Erie Record Show on September 27, with door donations supporting a local charity.

Organized by Craig Waters, the show runs at Sessions on the River, 133 Niagara Parkway, starting at noon and will feature live music by the band Stardust Duo.

Entry is a suggested $3 donation to Community Outreach Program Erie and both buyers and sellers are welcome.

“We do three events a year and this show we’re going to have some live music attached to it,” said Craig Waters, organizer.

Stardust Duo will perform during the sale, a fit Waters says matches the classic rock and singer-songwriter records that often draw people in. The duo features Tim Allard and Chelsea McWilliams from the Canadian alt-country band The Redhill Valleys.

Seven to 10 vendors are expected, with tables of used and new vinyl plus occasional memorabilia. Vendors bring different specialties so shoppers can find everything from Taylor Swift to ’60s rock and roll.

“There’s everything from (classic rock) to what’s on the radio today,” said Waters.

Waters encourages residents to bring records and want lists if they’re looking to sell or trade. Attendees are also welcome to chat with the vendors about valuations and basic audio recommendations.

Admission is pay-what-you-can, with $3 suggested, but no one has ever been turned away.

Waters said the goal is a friendly, conversational show rather than trying to make a hard sell. He curates returning vendors and expects the room to be full.

“I’d really like it to be a staple in Fort Erie,” said Waters.
