Opening Fort Erie constituency office a ‘full-circle moment’ for Davies

Fred Davies was elected to the new Niagara South riding in late April, but was proud to unveil his Fort Erie constituency office on the weekend.
Located at 48 Jarvis Street in the same unit occupied by fellow Conservative MP Tony Baldinelli before a shift in boundaries that took Fort Erie out of the Niagara Falls riding, the space will serve as a channel to the community’s representative in the federal government.

In a 1979 election, former Fort Erie Mayor Girve Fretz was elected to a seat in Ottawa and opened his constituency office, also on Jarvis Street.
And as a youngster, Davies was delighted to be hired as one of his staffers, he told a crowd on Saturday at the grand opening of his Fort Erie headquarters.
“It’s a full-circle moment,” he told the crowd gathered on Saturday.
Davies, a businessman from Port Colborne, pulled in 48.3 per cent of the vote in Niagara South, the reconfigured riding that replaced the Niagara Centre.
He represents Fort Erie, Welland, Port Colborne, and Thorold as a member of parliament.
Davies unseated Liberal incumbent Vance Badawey, who was the MP for Niagara Centre since 2015, who received 43.4 per cent of the vote.
He said on Saturday that he’s “proud and humbled” to represent the communities he does in Ottawa, reminiscing on a 16-month journey since receiving the Conservative nomination.
Davies also thanked the staff who have been working at the office saying they have “cleared a lot of backlog in cases.”
His constituency office will be open Wednesday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and at other times by appointment.
