Niagara Parks addressing erosion at two Fort Erie boat launches

Niagara Parks is taking measures to address shoreline erosion at two of its public boat launches in Fort Erie.

Rankin Construction, also in charge of a restoration of the breakwall along Lake Erie on Niagara Parks property, has been awarded a contract through an open procurement process to implement erosion control measures at the Netherby Road and Anger Avenue boat launches, says a news release from Niagara Parks.

Work at the Netherby Boat Launch is scheduled to be completed on August 5. Public access will remain available throughout the day.

Work at the Anger Avenue Boat Launch will begin on August 7 and is expected to be completed by August 8.

During this period, there will be brief restrictions to public access, says Niagara Parks, adding that the public should expect other temporary disruptions, including dust and noise.

“Niagara Parks will take steps to minimize impacts and maintain access to its properties. We appreciate your cooperation during this critical project,” the parks commission said in its news release.
