Minor injuries suffered in collision at Gilmore and Thompson roads

Injuries suffered in a collision at Gilmore and Thompson roads Wednesday morning are being considered non-serious.

That’s according to a statement on the incident provided to Fort Erie Radio by Niagara Regional Police (NRP).

At 8:38 a.m., police responded to the scene, which involved two vehicles; a red Nissan driven by a 75-year-old woman and a red Dodge driven by a 62-year-old man, explained Constable Barry Ravenek in the NRP’s statement.

The woman and her passenger sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision and were transported to a local hospital by paramedics.

The man in the Dodge did not sustain any injuries.

As a result of the investigation, the 75-year-old woman is charged with an offence in accordance with the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.

Both involved vehicles sustained damage and were required to be towed from the scene. The intersection was closed for a short time and has since been reopened, said Ravenek shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

Anyone with information including potential witnesses are asked to contact the investigating officer by dialing (905) 688-4111, option 3, extension 1009609.
