Mexican citizen arrested at Peace Bridge border crossing for possession of child porn

A wrong turn lead to an arrest at the Canada-U.S. border.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Peace Bridge in Buffalo have apprehended a 52-year-old male Mexican citizen for alleged possession of child pornography.

The incident unfolded on Friday when CBP officers encountered Marco Barajas Barron, 52, who was driving a commercial vehicle and inadvertently made a wrong turn, leading to his refusal of entry into Canada via the Fort Erie border crossing.

Upon being directed to the CBP primary inspection area, Barajas Barron underwent further scrutiny and was later escorted to secondary inspection.

During this secondary inspection, CBP officers verified Barajas Barron’s identity and unearthed that Barajas Barron was in possession of child pornographic material.

Buffalo Port Director Gaetano Cordone commended the CBP officers, stating, “Our CBP officers are among the best at identifying nefarious actors as part of their border security mission. We continue to successfully collaborate with our local law enforcement partners to keep our communities safe.”

Following the CBP processing, both Barajas Barron and the suspected pornographic material were handed over to the Buffalo Police Department. Barajas Barron now faces felony charges of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child.
