Meteors wrap up regular season on the road this week

The Fort Erie Jr. B Meteors await their final two games of the regular season on the road this week.

A win on Sunday night was their fourth in the last five games, defeating the Cambridge Redhawks 4-3.

The Meteors took an early 3-0 lead and were able to hold onto a 4-3 victory after leading by three goals in the third period and Cambridge scoring two markers to make it a one-goal game.

On home ice at the Leisureplex against the Caledonia Corvairs, the Meteors had a 4-1 lead in the second period on Saturday but that fell apart with the visiting team winning 5-4.

The Meteors won 4-3 in overtime on the road Thursday against the Hamilton Kilty Bs with Sam Tonelli scoring the game winner.

A tight 2-1 win came on Tuesday while visiting the Welland Jr. Canadians.

To cap off the regular season, the Meteors visit the St. Catharines Falcons on Friday and Cambridge on Saturday.

Playoffs start the week of March 10 and although the Meteors have already clinched a spot, it is currently unknown who they will play in the first round.

This is expected to be determined next weekend, assistant general manager Mike Fowler told Fort Erie Radio on Sunday.
