FEIA men’s basketball triumphs: A resilient response to women’s team setback

The Fort Erie International Academy (FEIA) women’s basketball team suffered a tough loss against their ongoing rivals, the Royal Crown School (RCS) Lions, at home this past Thursday. But that did not slow down the men’s team. In fact, it fueled them to get a “statement win” on Saturday.

At 3 p.m., the men’s FEIA Falcons took on RCS. In a resilient response to the women’s loss, the men’s team pulled off one of their most dominant wins in the nest all season, beating RCS 106-78.

The team got off to a great start defensively, allowing Chidube Ekwommadu to start the game with three powerful dunks on the fast-break. Ever since he picked up his first Division I offer, Ekwommadu has been on a rampage.

By this point, the crowd was on their feet, setting the tone for the balance of Saturday afternoon’s matchup.

Ekwommadu was efficient from the three-point line. He went 10/15, shooting 66 per cent from beyond the arc, scoring a phenomenal 44 points, 15 of which were in the last quarter. To tag along to this amazing stat, he also grabbed six rebounds.

Kevin Toth finished the game with 15 points and hit three three-pointers in the second quarter alone.

Tobe Ezeokafor had 17 points and also hit three three-pointers in the first quarter. He has been one of the most efficient three-point shooters in the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA), hitting an impressive 44 per cent from beyond the arc.

With playoffs just around the corner, the Falcons men’s team will need to build off this statement win in their pursuit of greatness.
