Man in Ridgeway arrested for theft and possession of stolen goods

Niagara Regional Police arrested a man yesterday in connection with a stolen vehicle.

Officers were conducting a welfare check in the area of House Road and Garrison Road in Ridgeway on Tuesday, January 23rd, around 11:00 a.m. During the check, they located a 2007 Ford Freestyle reported stolen from Hamilton on January 5th. Further investigation revealed multiple stolen tools inside the vehicle.

Police located and arrested the suspect, who also had three outstanding arrest warrants from previous incidents. Franklin Lewis, 33, of no fixed address, faces the following charges:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 (2 Counts)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 (2 Counts)
  • Break Enter and Commit non-Dwelling House
  • Theft under $5,000 (Eight Counts)
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order

Lewis remains in custody pending a video bail hearing expected to take place today, January 24th, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
