Man charged with impaired driving after Ridgeway rollover

A 30-year-old St. Catharines man faces an impaired driving charge after his vehicle drove off Nigh Road just after midnight Thursday. The vehicle smashed into several landscape rocks and trees before it rolled onto its side.

Niagara Regional Police charged the man with impaired operation after investigators determined he was impaired by alcohol.

The crash happened near the intersection of Nigh and Gorham roads.

Fort Erie firefighters had to extricate the trapped driver from the wrecked vehicle. Paramedics took him to an out-of-region hospital for injuries that were deemed not life-threatening.

The driver faces an impaired operation charge in a Niagara court at a date police have not released.

Fort Erie Radio reached out to police late Thursday afternoon for additional comment but did not receive a response prior to publication.
