Fort Erie man, 31, charged in Niagara Falls aggravated assault

A 31-year-old Fort Erie man has been charged with aggravated assault following an investigation into an attack in Niagara Falls last month.

According to Niagara Regional Police, detectives arrested the man Wednesday in connection with a September 21 incident near McLeod Road and Pin Oak Drive.

Police say officers were called to the area around 6:30 p.m. and found a 23-year-old man with facial injuries.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

According to police, the victim had been walking south on Pin Oak Drive when he was confronted by a man driving a red Dodge Ram pickup truck as the vehicle was leaving a business.

Police allege the victim was struck several times with a closed fist before the driver returned to the truck and left the area.

The Fort Erie man was held for a bail hearing Thursday at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.

Niagara Regional Police say the investigation remains ongoing and are asking anyone with information to contact detectives at (905) 688-4111.
