Library fundraiser aims to bring instruments and sports equipment to kids

Friends of the Fort Erie Public Library are preparing for a fundraising event to enhance children’s programming at the library.

The silent auction will take place on May 24 and 25 at the Centennial branch located at 136 Gilmore Road.

“We’re hoping to expand the library offerings beyond just books,” said Tamara Kozel, member of Friends of Fort Erie Public Library.

She added that they hope “to allow children to borrow musical instruments and potentially even sports equipment.”

The silent auction is seeking donations of items, services, or gift cards. Businesses that contribute will receive a shoutout on the library’s Facebook page and have their brochures and business cards displayed at the event.

In addition to the donated prizes, attendees can expect a variety of unique auction items. “We have homemade bookbags, prints, and donated jewellery for sale as well,” Kozel added.

Funds raised will directly support the expansion of children’s programs at the library.

Friends of the Fort Erie Public Library are also extending an invitation to the community. “We’re always looking for new members to join us and help out with events and book sales,” said Kozel.
